So what does it mean when we talk about flow light, medium or abundant?
Let's start at the beginning...
Menstruation, English, menstruation, call it what you like, it's that moment we love (or not) every month, every 28 days
Menstruation lasts on average between 3 and 7 days and several factors can affect the flow and length of menstruation. Depending on our contraception first, pill, copper IUD, ring..etc will vary our periods from light to heavy flow.
They arrive at puberty around 12 and 13 years old and decide to stop at menopause around 50 years old.. It's been a bunch of years and it is important to learn to live with it in order to pass each month serenely.
So what's my flow? 🤨
- Very light flow: a few small drops or minimal bleeding (usually at the beginning of the cycle)
- Light flow: less than a normal tampon filled in 3h, one or two tampons will be enough for the day
- Average flow: more than 1 normal tampon filled in 3h, then you will need 3-4 tampons a day to avoid leaks
- Heavy flow: a normal pad or tampon that fills up in 1 to 2 hours, these are heavy periods and you will need several pads/tampons day and night to feel comfortable.
